A sweet–salty classic that's ridiculously easy, crowd-pleasing, and perfect to make ahead for holiday gifting. We keep the base simple with crispy crackers, buttery toffee, and melted chocolate, and you can finish it with any festive toppings you like. It’s the kind of holiday snack that disappears from the table almost instantly.

Ingredients

-Servings: 40 pieces
-1 cup unsalted or salted butter
-1 cup packed dark brown sugar
-40 salted saltine crackers (about 1 sleeve)
-1 package milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips
-Optional toppings: chopped nuts, crushed candy canes, holiday sprinkles, flaky salt

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your grill to 350°F.
Line a large baking sheet with heavy-duty foil and coat it with non-stick spray — or use a Monument Grills Cast Iron Cooking Plate lined with foil for a sturdier, more even base.
Arrange the crackers in a single layer, then fold the foil edges upward to keep the toffee contained.

Step 2: Make the toffee base
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat.
Bring it to a full rolling boil, then reduce the heat slightly and stir continuously for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens and darkens.

Step 3: Pour + bake
Quickly pour the hot toffee over the crackers and spread it evenly.
Bake for 5 minutes, until the toffee bubbles across the whole sheet.

Step 4: Add the chocolate
Remove from the oven. Scatter the chocolate chips over the hot toffee.
Let them sit for 1–2 minutes until shiny and softened, then spread into a smooth chocolate layer.

Step 5: Finish + chill
Add toppings if you're using them.
Chill in the refrigerator overnight (or at least 2–3 hours if you're in a rush).
Once firm, peel off the foil and break into bite-size pieces.

Pro tips:
The flavor pairs perfectly with holiday grilling—serve Christmas Crack alongside smoked meats, glazed ham, or even as a sweet bite after a winter cookout. Package it as a homemade gift with a grill tool, rub sampler, or recipe card for an easy, thoughtful Monument-style holiday bundle.
