Monument Grill Natural Gas Conversion Kit Assembly Guide

Before you begin, make sure your grill model supports natural gas conversion. Monument’s manuals require the conversion to be performed by a qualified gas technician who can confirm local code requirements, so use this guide to understand the process and check the work. The Monument Grill natural gas conversion kit is made to convert compatible Monument Grills from propane to a natural gas supply, including select dual gas valve grill models. This guide is for Monument grill owners who want a more convenient, economical fuel setup at home, and it walks through model compatibility, the parts and tools you need, step-by-step installation, and the final safety checks, including leak testing. What You’ll Need

• NG hose
• NG regulator
• Slot screwdriver (flat-blade)
• Orifice sockets
• NG side burner orifice

Step-by-Step Conversion

Step 2: Use a 6mm wrench to remove the LP regulator
➡ Double-check that there's no gas pressure left in the line before loosening.

Step 3: Install the NG regulator
➡ Ensure the regulator is tightened securely to prevent leaks.

Step 4: Pass the NG hose through the grill cart➡ The kit includes a 10 ft 1/2" ID natural gas hose. Keep the hose away from sharp edges or hot surfaces to avoid damage.

Step 5: Connect the NG hose to the NG regulator
➡ Hand-tighten first, then use a wrench carefully. Do not overtighten.

Step 6: Connect the NG hose to the rigid natural gas supply pipe
➡ Use the connector supplied for your gas line. If a threaded pipe joint needs sealant, your gas technician should use one rated for gas on those threads only, never on flare fittings or quick-connect sealing surfaces. Test connections later with a soapy water solution to check for leaks.

Step 7: Push back the clamp spring
➡ Hold it firmly to prevent it from snapping back during removal.

Step 8: Remove the burner
➡ Gently lift it out to avoid bending the burner tube.

Step 9: Use orifice sockets and slot screwdriver to remove brass orifice from the end of gas valve➡ Remove the propane fitting carefully and replace only the parts specified for conversion. Keep the removed LP orifice in a safe place in case you ever convert back.

Step 10: Check whether your NG orifice is pre-installed
➡ On the Eminence 605 and Denali 605, the NG orifice is pre-installed behind the LP orifice, so just confirm it's seated properly before moving on. The 41847NG manual calls for installing the natural gas orifice instead, so follow your model's instructions.

Step 11: Reinsert the burner
➡ Align the burner tube correctly with the gas valve opening.

Step 12: Reattach using the clamp spring previously removed
➡ Make sure the spring locks the burner securely in place.

Step 13: Remove the LP side burner orifice
➡ Work carefully here, as the side burner fittings are smaller and more delicate.

Step 14: Install the NG side burner orifice
➡ Tighten snugly, but do not force it.

Step 15: Remove all the control knobs (firmly pull off)
➡ Grip straight and pull outward — avoid twisting to protect the valve stems.

Step 16: Use flat-blade screwdriver to turn the high-flame setscrew clockwise about 90°
➡ This reduces the flame for natural gas use. Do not over-adjust — 90° is usually enough.

Step 17: Reattach the control knobs and turn off the burner
➡ Before lighting anything, complete the leak test in the Final Safety Check below on every connection you disturbed, with all burner knobs OFF. Only when there are no bubbles, light each burner following your manual’s lighting steps, check flame color (blue with slight yellow tips is ideal), then turn them off.

Final Safety Check:

• After conversion and before the first lighting, always perform a leak test with soapy water on all connections, with every burner knob OFF.
• If you see bubbles forming, shut off the gas supply immediately and do not light the grill. Have the qualified technician correct the connection and repeat the leak test.
• If unsure, contact a technician to review your installation.
